Official name
Do-San is the pseudonym of Korean patriot Ahn Chang-Ho (1878-1938).
The 24 movements of the Tul represent his life, which he dedicated to the further development of Korea and its independence.
Supplementary
Ahn Chang-Ho is known to have fought against Japanese domination of Korea around 1900. Ahn moved to America and founded the Frienship Society, an organisation dedicated to Korea’s independence. After his return, he campaigned for better educational opportunities for his countrymen.
In 1938, he was arrested by the Japanese authorities and died shortly afterwards in a hospital.
Ahn Chang-Ho is honoured throughout Korea as a patriot.
