Official name
Hwa-Rang was a group that emerged during the Silla dynasty in the early 7th century. The 29 movements from the Tul refer to the 29th Infantry Division of Korea where Taekwon-do fully developed.

Supplementary
A group of young people from the upper class of Korea known as Hwa-Rang (meaning ‘flower servants’) trained in fighting techniques. Not only for self-defense or for the purpose of warfare but also because of the beauty of the movements themselves. They are seen as the forerunners of Korean martial arts. Since 1960, Hwa Rang Do has been its own martial art style.

Learning
What is special about this Taekwon-do pattern is the three techniques with a fist punch leading in an L-stance. However, it is not that punch that captures attention, but the function of the counter-movement. Placing that fist during the forward direction of the Taekwondo movement can be seen as controlling the opponent. This control of the opponent will be elaborated on further in more movements in Tuls.
