Official name
This Pattern is named after Saint Dan-Gun, the legendary founder of Korea in the year 2333 BC.

Supplementary
Dan-Gun Wanggeom was his full name. He is considered the founder of the first kingdom from which Korea emerged, Gojoseon. This was on the border of China and northern (North) Korea where Lake Chon-Ji is also located. A place sacred to all Koreans.

Learning
