All Postures

– All Postures –

Postures refers to how the body (with the chest, head and arms) stands on the position of the legs.

In a posture, there is basically no contact with an opponent. Traditional Taekwon-do has four groups of postures.

Greeting postures are used in the greeting procedure at the beginning and end of each Tul.
The Ready postures are the Chumby positions with which the Tuls begin and end.
Controlling postures appear in the stances in the Tuls to observe and warn against (imaginary) opponents.
Starting postures mark the beginning of every arm technique.
